Projects
The gallery is a building on Main Street, and it is also a whole constellation of projects. Some hang on the walls, some come in the mail, and some live only on the web under torc.art. They are all the same experiment, understanding optimal ways to use art in the transmission of lived emotions from one human being to another.
In the building
- Exhibitions. Rotating shows of local, regional and national artists, and the Second Saturday Art Hop, which we have done every month since 2012.
- The Community Etching Press. Printmaking and bookbinding equipment shared with the community and priced at cost, with a barter program for anyone the prices would keep out.
- Performance. The gallery is also a listening room. Our neighbor Tatsuya Nakatani, a great percussionist, conducted a sixteen gong orchestra of sixteen volunteer musicians here in March 2026, and there has been dance in the space since the grand opening, when six dancers performed. To join the Nakatani Gong Orchestra, write to NGO.torc@gmail.com.
- Workshops & Education. Letterpress printing, printmaking, drawing and natural dyeing, taught by us and by guest teachers, to kids and adults. We have been teaching here as long as there has been a gallery.
- Glyphs. Leave your own mark on a 1916 building that will outlast us all.
On paper
- Agile Meteor Press. Our publishing imprint. One book per season, printed by Bookmobile in Minneapolis for the trade editions and bound by hand here for the special ones. It has its own home at amp.torc.art.
- The Periodic. The Periodic of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, hand sewn zines with letterpress covers, growing into a quarterly tabloid newspaper on the solstices and equinoxes. The first quarterly closes Volume I at the winter solstice, December 21st, 2026. The members choose what prints, at proofing.torc.art.
- The Dispatches. The numbered letters we wrote from 2021 to 2026 about art, the wild and this town, first on intentionallyconfusing.com and now here.
Around the town
- MeTeORiC. The free arts and film festival, coming back in 2027.
- The facade. The cloud and lightning sign on the Luchini Electric Building, our gift to the historic Main Street district.
On the network
- Shop. The work, for sale. Handloom, sculpture, intaglio, painting, printmaking, art clothing, adornment, knives and books.
- Members. One account at members.torc.art for everything we build, and the way our supporting members pay for the art that can’t pay for itself.
- Gather. A small community gathering place. Posts stay up for seven days, then they are gone. No likes, and everything is signed.
- Proofing. The Periodic’s voting field, where members choose what goes to press.
- Futures. A market for a thousand works that do not exist yet. Starting at the winter solstice of 2026 we will make 1000 new works over one full turn of the year, paintings, drypoints, jewelry, handmade books, marble sculpture and weavings, and they go into a live market at futures.torc.art while we are still making them. A thousand numbers, each number its own price, one dollar to a thousand. Whoever holds a work when the market closes in late 2027 is who it ships to. The board opens December 21st, 2026.
And the artists’ own archives
We each keep a public catalogue raisonné of our own work, at archive.jeannieortiz.com and archive.kyleparkercunningham.com.
