In their words
Lucas Beau Leone
Born in Marble CO, 1993. Working from Colorado through visual and sonic mediums. Formal education in the presence of being. Credentials written in life experience. Hunger for mystery and power, insatiable. Commitment to the story of beauty, absolute and unwavering. Aspirations, exploring fully the field of being that is aesthetic saga. Gratitude, to the earth, to the miracle of this planet. I see one family in all of humanity, one family in all of creation.
Hills Snyder, on Altered States
Altered States is an ongoing writing/drawing project begun in 2016. A string of destinations, selected according to the evocative power of their names, were visited in search of some kind of profile of the American character. Utopian ideals, idealized pasts, mythical futures, downers, reckonings, false hopes, every day aspirations, states less defined, a spectrum of emotions and conditions float in a country of association.
Beginning in Nowhere, I plotted my route through Happy, Bonanza and Lost Springs to get to a residency at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming where the first fifty drawings were produced. During my time there, I did side trips to Recluse, Keystone, and Opportunity. At the end of the residency, the project continued as I travelled to Diamondville, Eden, Eureka, Bummerville, Nothing, Truth or Consequences, El Dorado, Waterloo, Lost Nation, Downer, Donnybrook, and Funk.
Larry Pogreba is an artist and guitar builder. He is also a master Blade Smith, and a world class story teller.
By medium
Handloom. Threads of silk, organic cotton-linen, merino, cashmere, alpaca and dye-materials from the natural world are united in handwoven creations to warm the body and soul, connecting us to nature and our essential humanity. Weaving on a loom is like following the rhythm of a heartbeat, or walking through nature. Each intentional motion a step into exploration, every movement bringing forth new possibilities.
Sculpture. Art in the round, alive and jumping into the world. The stuff of magic, the magic of the ancients.
Intaglio and printmaking. Hand pulled and hand colored one of a kind pieces of art by Kyle Parker Cunningham, printed on a 1906 press. These intaglio prints are each created by hand using techniques dating back to the 1430’s. Each is created one at a time and only reprinted randomly, if at all.
Adornment. Sacred adornment rooted in nature, intentionally crafted from stones, shells, seeds, fibers and love. These pieces are investigations into materials and modern mysticism.
Trad Alchemy. A body of work relating to the shiny bits of metal used in rock climbing.
Art clothing. Clothing printed with art we have created.
Knives. Knives are sharp and cut things.
And painting, photography, and books from Agile Meteor Press.
Work is available in person at the gallery and in the shop.
