Kyle Parker Cunningham paints two or three portraits per year. They are meticulously crafted over months layer by slowly adding fine lines of paint layering the #00 brush strokes upon each other in a mesh like pattern to simulate the topography of human skin. There is no shortcut in the creation of these works just tens to hundreds of hours of careful observation of color and form and endless refinement towards the final image.

Cunningham works from photographs which he takes in intimate portrait sessions. He captures a moment in a persons life which tells the story of fortitude and perseverance innate in all of humanity.
