A Deep Green Creek
A Deep Green Creek
It is rare that I spend time in mossy places. It is such a soft world compared to the desert. Nearly every sense stimulated in a different way within a space thick with humus. These stones came from a creek sunk deep in the forest, a veiling of fathomless green surrounding on all sides. They are just rocks, really. Pebbles as beautiful as any other yet here they travel, venturing into the desert and beyond.
Joining this sweet assembly of stones is a river tumbled bit of ceramic with a small amount of remnant yellow glaze still clinging to its surface. The stones are bound by a hand braided cord with a sterling silver clasp.
The wooden hanging frame it is shown with installed in the gallery is available upon request.
These pieces are part of The Movement of Stones Project. https://jeannieortiz.com/the-movement-of-stone/
